A smoke detector went off this morning, shortly before 11:30 a.m., on the campus of Fort Detrick, forcing employees to be evacuated. "We had a smoke detector go off. No actual smoke was seen, and after an inspection of the building, it was determined that it was all clear," said Brian Gaudet, Communications Director of the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center. "We were allowed back into the building 30 minutes later," he continued.
An investigation is underway.
