The Carroll County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with Maryland State Police and the Gamber and Reese Volunteer Fire Company, is investigating a 3 vehicle accident that happened early Friday morning on Route 91 and Old Gamber Road.
The preliminary investigation revealed a Honda Civic, driven by 21 year old David Stanner, of Milford Mill, was traveling eastbound and failed to maneuver a curve, which resulted in him losing control and running through a stop sign, authorities said. The Honda was hit by a tractor trailer, driven by 48 year old John Rhoades, Sr., of Baltimore. The 2004 Kenworth Tractor Trailer then veered left and struck another vehicle, a Volkswagen Jetta, being operated by 38 year old Kelly Murphy, of Westminster, head on.
Stanner and Rhoades both refused medical care on the scene, but Mr. Murphy was flown by Maryland State Police Trooper 3 to Shock Trauma, in Baltimore, with life threatening injuries, where he remains in critical condition, investigators said.
