An Adamstown man was killed in a car accident early Saturday morning.
Maryland State Police in Frederick said it happened shortly before 3:00 a.m., on U.S. 340, near Mt. Zion Road.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1993 Honda Civic being driven by 19 year old Matthew Lloyd Shook, was traveling at a high rate of speed when the vehicle left the road, traveled into the median and overturned multiple times. He was flown by Trooper 3 to Shock Trauma where he was pronounced dead. Investigators said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
The eastbound lanes of U.S. 340, near 15, were closed for approximately one hour during the investigation.
Shook was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
