The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) of the Frederick County Citizens Services Division will hold events that are open to the public to bring awareness to child abuse prevention, including:
April 2, 3:00 p.m. - The City of Frederick - proclamation ceremony at City Hall.
April 3, 9:30 a.m. - Board of County Commissioners - proclamation ceremony at Winchester Hall.
April 12, 10:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. - 2014 Interagency Basketball Games at Urbana High School
April 26, 10:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m. - Children's Festival at Baker Park.
In a press release, CAC Director Lynn Davis commented, "We invite everyone to join us as we commemorate Child Abuse Prevention Month during April with proclamations before the City's Mayor and Board of Aldermen and Frederick Board of County Commissioners. These and many other special events will emphasize the Child Advocacy Center's long tradition of promoting child wellbeing by providing a child and family focused center to address reports of child maltreatment. We use a multidisciplinary approach that includes investigation, prosecution, treatment and advocacy."
CAC services are free to children who may have experienced physical, sexual or emotional abuse or neglect, and their non offending parents, caregivers and siblings.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
