A Boonsboro man was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Route 40-A at Toms Road Wednesday afternoon. State Police say Robert William Semler, 71, was driving a Nissan pickup truck which was waiting at the intersection when the vehicle was rear-ended by an Oldsmobile traveling eastbound. The driver of the Olds, 22-year-old Korey Scott Mccarthy of Keedysville, told troopers he didn't see the truck.
Upon impact, the Nissan overturned on to the driver's side, and was pushed into the oncoming lanes where it was struck by a GMC Envoy operated by Eldon Bowman Keller, 72, of Boonsboro.
Semler was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger is his truck, Deborah Semler, 65, of Boonsboro, was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
Mccarthy and Keller were taken to Meritus Medical Center.
State Police say the intersection was closed for three hours while a crash investigation took place.
