Employees who work in Winchester Hall and anyone attending the Board of County Commissioners' meeting, will participate in the Great Southeast Shakeout Earthquake Drill at 10:17 a.m. on Thursday.
The basic drill is to drop, take cover and hold on. Officials point out it is important to hold these drills so people will automatically know what to do during a real earthquake.
In 2011 people along the Eastern Seaboard felt a magnitude-5.8 earthquake centered in Mineral, Va.
Officials expect the drill to take about two to five minutes during the County Commissioners' Meeting and pre-recorded video will broadcast during that time.
