The Frederick Board of County Commissioners and the Frederick County Business Development and Retention Department (BDRD) today announced Business Appreciation Week, a week-long event scheduled for October 7-11.
Over 1,400 businesses have participated since the program’s inception in 2001. Ambassadors from the state, county, municipalities and elected officials will meet with local companies to learn more about the businesses, identify any concerns or issues and to personally thank them for doing business in Frederick County and contributing to the overall economy.
Board President Blaine Young said, "Business Appreciation Week is one of the best opportunities for us to show our support to the businesses in Frederick County. We encourage many companies to sign up for a visit and to provide us with feedback about how we can continue to keep their best interests in mind as we govern the county. As always, we remind everyone that we are ‘Open for Business’ and look forward to supporting these important members of our community."
This year, 60 volunteer ambassadors will visit more than 100 businesses throughout Frederick County. A special emphasis will be made to visit companies that have been in business 50 years or more in Frederick County and BDRD will be highlighting county municipalities with a designated Economic Development Day. The Business Development Retention staff will feature each business on social media channels before, during and after the week-long event.
BDRD Manager Helen Propheter commented, "We are excited about the changes to this year’s Business Appreciation Week program and look forward to visiting and hearing from our business community. Business Appreciation Week is one of BDRD’s major retention and outreach programs."
