Hagerstown Police have made an arrest in an armed robbery that happened on Wednesday afternoon. Officers were dispatched to Meritus Medical Center for a male that had been assaulted near the South End Shopping Center, authorities said. The victim was being treated for a non-life threatening injury to his head. The man told police he was walking behind the shopping center when he was approached by two men who asked for a lighter. He said when he attempted to retrieve it from his pocket, one of the suspects hit him in the head with a hammer, while the other suspect pulled out a handgun. Both culprits then demanded the victim's money before he was able to get away.
