The National Weather Service is increasing its snow forecast for far Western Maryland. A winter storm warning Tuesday afternoon predicts 6 to 9 inches in Garrett County from Tuesday night through Thursday morning. Tthe forecast says rain and freezing rain could bring up to a quarter-inch of ice ahead of the snow.
The weather service says Cumberland could get a couple inches of snow Wednesday after some rain or freezing rain Tuesday.
Elsewhere in Maryland and the District of Columbia, the forecast is mainly for rain, with pockets of freezing rain.
Officials at Reagan National and Dulles International Airports say heavy rain could produce flight delays Tuesday evening. Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport says flights are mostly on time but travelers should check with their airlines for updates.
