Motorcyclist Injured After Leading Deputy On Pursuit

The Frederick County Sheriff's Office is investigating a motorcycle crash that happened shortly before 11:00 p.m. Monday night.

A deputy was patrolling in the area of the Elmer Derr Park and Ride when he saw a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on eastbound U.S. 340, authorities said. The deputy followed the Kawasaki Ninja as it traveled from U.S. 340 to Butterfly Lane, where he attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the operator refused to stop and the deputy continued to pursue the motorcycle to the end of Butterfly Lane where it, unfortunately, left the roadway, hit a fence and a guardrail.

The driver, 19 year old Jess Daugherty, of Knoxville, was flown by Trooper 3 to Shock Trauma, in Baltimore.

An investigation revealed that Daugherty was driving without a Class M motorcycle license.

His condition is unknown at this time.
