Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal accident that happened on Thursday night in Frederick County.
Police say they responded to Northbound 270 near Route 80 at around 7:30 p.m. for a two vehicle accident.
Their investigation revealed that Sydney Prather, 53, of Bethesda was operating a Hyundai in the fast lane of 270 Northbound, when for unknown reasons, traveled partially into the median before over-correcting and losing control of the vehicle.
While losing control, the Hyundia traveled back into the roadway, and struck a Nissan driven by Marsha Lawson from Charles Town, West Virginia.
Prather’s vehicle then struck an embankment and overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene and Larson was transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
The northbound lanes of 270 were closed for four hours during an investigation.
