Snowden Indicted In Homicide

The Grand Jury on Friday indicted a Frederick man for 1st-degree murder. Antwine Wayne Snowden, 51, was also charged by the panel with second-degree murder and robbery.

"He was originally arrested back in July of this year in connection with an April death of a Frederick woman by the name of Gloria Carol Fitzpatrick," says State's Attorney Charlie Smith. "Snowden and she were neighbors in the same apartment building. They often interacted, and Snowden would carry her groceries, etc., etc."

Fitzpatrick was found deceased in her apartment on Rooks Court in Frederick by a relative, after she failed to show up for work. The State Medical Examiner ruled the cause of her death is listed as consistent with asphyxiation or strangulation.

"He {Snowden} was linked to her murder due to some inconsistencies in his whereabouts on that day, and some DNA evidence that ultimately was collected and tested," says Smith. "He been held without bond since his arrest."

Smith says Snowden's  case will now move to the Circuit Court, and a trial date will be scheduled within 180 days.
