Teenager Charged After Setting Off An Illegal Firework In School

A 17-year-old male juvenile is charged with reckless endangerment, malicious destruction of property and discharging a firework without a permit. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says the youth was charged in connection with an incident Thursday at 11:30 AM at Winter's Mill High School in Westminster.

School officials were alerted by a concerned student after the juvenile discharged an illegal firework in a commode inside a men's locker room. Damage from the explosion is estimated at 400-dollars, and was contained to the commode.

The youth was released to the custody of his parents pending action by the Department of Juvenile Services.
