Across the country, more than 60,000 veterans were homeless on a single night in January 2012. Homeless Veterans in Frederick will get some relief with the more than $200,000 The Way Station, Inc., will receive in a grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
"This is one of the real tragedies is that you've got lots of folks who've put their lives at risk for the country, now struggling to find places to live," said Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen. "And so as we help some of these veterans get on their feet and find jobs, we also need to make sure they have a place to call home, and that's what this is about.
The Way Station, Inc., is a nonprofit that provides veterans with a variety of services, including housing, counseling and employment services.
